The Funkier Fall 2004 Art Crawl Photo Story (part 1)
E-mail this | Print this

Tired of doing the same old photo story for Tilsner News for the last four Art Crawls, I thought I'd get ready for this year's Halloween 2004 photo shoot by producing the Fall 2004 story with an emphasis on digitally-altered photographs together with some straight photography.

In the last year, beginning with Halloween 2003, I have been exploring the use of digitally altered photographs as a basis for web and other design, although this experimentation hasn't made it into the portfolio as of yet.

Sure, some of the results are better than others, some are just visual notes to myself for one future project in particular, but there's some variety. There are at least 10 photographers in the Tilsner, I don't get paid for doing the Crawl shoot, so please direct complaints about the departure from tradition elsewhere. :-)

Writer Tina Dybvik bravely continues to meet and greet at the front door after being co-opted as advertising chattel by Atom Peschman, who consequently is getting zero coverage in this year's photo story. :-)

One of the most impressive items on display in the entrance hall in years, this chopper was custom painted by Rurik.

The pirate theme extends from the gas tank to the rear fender. Created entirely with airbrush, Rurik did not use any conventional brushes on the bike.

It's all about the art.

MJ Heubach's digital photo mosaics are just a small part of this talented graphic designer's portfolio.

While the Art Crawl is indeed about showing our art to the public but, typically, many artists' family and friends turn up to soak up the ambience and find out what goes on in this often strange building.

This man, Rob Barros, wants to bring back the Muppets on local cable. He has a DVD and can be reached via www.barros.us

Kevan F Willington greets visitors in his studio.

A piece by Jeremy Satterlund and a visitor's blouse seemingly cut from the same pattern.

Mercedes makes a sale. Her mosaic tile work was a popular feature for the second year running.
