CALL FOR ART CRAWL DOCUMENTERS!
E-mail this | Print this

We need volunteer citizen journalists to shoot video and take digital images during the 27th Saint Paul Art Crawl on the weekend of April 24th-26th!

If you can shoot video or take digital photos of bands performing in coops and the Black Dog, of artists showing their art in their lofts, of things happening on the streets... if you can make short "how is it going"-type video interviews with artists and visitors that you meet during the weekend, we want you!

We'll edit it, all you need to do is shoot it and dump the images/video on a hard drive.

In past years, the Art Crawl has been documented in photo and video but, sadly, not so much in more recent years. If you've ever checked out the Tilsner News section, you'll have seen previous examples:

This is going to be the biggest Art Crawl ever in the Tilsner Artists' Cooperative, with more than 50 artists opening and 8 bands playing in the Atrium.

It is important for the Lowertown artist community to capture these events to document that this is a vibrant community.

This documentation project will help us advertise future Art Crawls, it will help us encourage new artists and local businesses to move to Lowertown, and it will help us to defend the community against any possible future attempts to condo-ize coop buildings like the Tilsner—which sadly seems to be the historical pattern for artist communities in cities like New York and San Francisco.

We'd like to try and do photo and video documentation again, but on a far bigger scale, because this Art Crawl is going to be huge. For that we will need volunteer citizen journalists to shoot video and take digital images during the weekend.

You don't have to be an artist to participate.
